Elucidation of Lubrication Mechanisms of Natural Synovial Joint

Natural articular joint is excellent bearing system with low wear and low friction due to the adaptive multimode lubrication mechanism. Various lubrication mode such as boundary lubrication by adsorbed film, surface gel hydration lubrication by brush-like gel layer and biphasic lubrication by biphasic properties of natural articular cartilage function synergistically and hierarchically.
The research objective is elucidation of mutual relation among various lubrication modes in natural synovial joint.
